With the success of the Rollfast Gran Fondo I had created a "playbook" for producing effective and thoroughly planned large-scale cycling events. In 2016, I was approached by the City of Greenfield to present a proposal to increase bicycling ridership in Hancock County.
The proposal included weekly meetings, where Rollfast would lead group rides and an event in September that would showcase the rural areas of Hancock County.
Local businesses like Tyner Pond Farm, Hancock Health and the Mayor Chuck Fewell were in full support of the initiative.
We developed a committee and began planning the very successful event.
After 3 years of organizing the initiative, it had grown dramatically. The committee had taken new leadership and the Hancock Flat 50 was self sustaining.
I'm still a huge fan of the City of Greenfield and it's residents and participate in the Hancock Flat 50 every year.
